The governor said that he was aware of the activities of some unscrupulous elements whom he said had been going round the state to cast aspersion on his personality, as well as the activities and achievements of his administration.

He called for the practice of developmental politics as against the politics of mischief and character assassination which used to be the order of the day in the state.

Governor Ajimobi said that his administration would not relent in its efforts at providing adequate security to the people of the state to enhance their contributions towards the socio-economic development of the state.

He pledged his government’s support to the tipper and quarry employers, adding that contractors handling road and building projects in the state had been directed to patronize them for the needed materials.

The governor called on members of the union to continue to maintain peaceful co-existence with other unions and organizations as well as the people of the state and that they should continue to work for the growth and development of the state.

He urged them to form a cooperative association to enable them benefit from the interest-free loans being enjoyed by traders and associations in the state.

Governor Ajimobi also disclosed that efforts were being made by his government to ensure the rehabilitation of all feeder roads in the state.

In his remarks, the state Commissioner for Transport, Prof. Nureni Tanimowo, commended the union for effectively contributing to the physical and socio-economic development of the state.

The Chairman of the union, Alhaji Ganiyu Akinola, had commended the Ajimobi administration for its unprecedented achievements, particularly in the areas of construction of roads and bridges, and the urban renewal programme.
