Salihamidzic said after Bayern sold Lewandowski they should have bought another central striker instead of a winger

Bayern Munich sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, has said the Bundesliga club made a mistake when they signed Senegalese international, Sadio Mane from Premiership League club, Liverpool in the summer.
He also admitted that the German club should have targeted a proper centre forward during last summer’s transfer window instead of a winger.
The Bavarians lost Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski to La Liga leaders, Barcelona last year, but failed to get a like for like replacement, as the Bundesliga champions went for former Reds forward, Sadio Mane.

Salihamidzic speaking with reporters via Sport 1 said: “With Sadio Mane, we’ve signed a new player who can also play as the No.9.
“In retrospect, of course, you can be the clever one and say: That is not the case.
“Serge, King, Leroy, Sadio, Tel, Choupo, Thomas, Jamal – they’re all top players.”
Mane was recently involved in a bust-up with teammate Leroy Sane following their UEFA Champions League defeat to Manchester City in the quarter-final first-leg encounter at the Etihad Stadium.
Bayern drew the subsequent second leg of the double header encounter at Allianz Arena in Germany and effectively crashed out of the European elite competition, while the Citizens moved on to the semi-finals where try will now face Real Madrid.
