A yet to be identified man has been arrested by vigilant youths in Bayelsa State for attempting to chop off his girlfriend’s head for a money ritual scheme.
The man is said to be a Yahoo boy, a crime involving internet fraud that now encompasses money ritual.
According to a media report, the suspect was caught attempting to behead the victim along SETRACO Road, Amassoma/Ogobiri axis of Bayelsa State on Tuesday morning, September 21.
He had already tied the girl, said to be a student of the Niger Delta University Wilberforce Island (NDU), to the ground before alert youths of the area in the Ogobiri community came to her rescue.
Kokobaiye Abeki, Special Adviser to Governor Diri on New Media, narrated on his Facebook wall that the suspect has been dating the girl for a while now and used the opportunity to lure her to Setraco Road along Ogobiri-Toruebeni drive.
“After he succeeded in tying her hands and legs, he was at the verge of cutting her neck when Ogobiri Youths who traced his earlier movement through a revelation from a nearby person caught him together with the efforts of the men of the Operation Doo-Akpo NPF special squad.” Abeki wrote.
