Bayelsa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its campaign flag-off for the Bayelsa State governorship election earlier scheduled for Saturday, October 14.
This was made known by the Director, Media and Publicity, Bayelsa APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Perry Tukuwei, who attributed the postponement to some exigences from the office of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who would have loved to be present at the event.
The ruling party, which had earlier flagged-off its campaign in Kogi and Imo States, also scheduled its campaign in Bayelsa State for Saturday, October 14, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed November 11 for the off-season governorship elections in the three states.

While regretting the inconveniences the postponement may have caused, Tukuwei said a new date will be communicated to all stakeholders, party faithfuls and the general public soon.
The party also urged its supporters to remain steadfast and focus on the main drive to take over leadership from the PDP-led government in the State.
The statement added, “In the meantime, the campaign activities continue in Bayelsa central Senatorial District with Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA on Tuesday and Southern Ijaw Local Government Area will take its turn from Wednesday.”
Prior to this, APC’s national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, had via another statement shared on APC X handle (formerly Twitter) @OfficialAPCNg, announced the postponement, saying the party would announce a new date in due course.
However, unlike Tukuwei, Morka failed to state the reason for the postponement.
“APC announces the postponement of the Bayelsa State governorship campaign flag-off scheduled to be held on Saturday, 14th October, 2023 in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. A new date will be communicated in due course.” the party tweeted.
