Bauchi South youths highlight neglect in policy formulation, call for urgent action on education, security, jobs
By David Ayodele
Youths from Bauchi South Senatorial District have expressed concern over their exclusion from policy decisions shaping their future, particularly in education, security, economic development, and job opportunities.
They also identified human capital development, skills acquisition, and youth inclusion in governance as critical issues requiring immediate attention from government and development partners.
These priority areas were spotlighted during a youth policy dialogue held in Bauchi, organised by the Bauchi-based NGO We Aid Initiative (WAI) with support from the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF).
Speaking at the event, WAI Executive Director Barrister Gambo Wakili said the dialogue provided young people with a platform to voice their perspectives on youth and community development challenges and to propose practical recommendations to guide government and partners in creating responsive youth programmes.
Commenting on the citizen education platform tagged “The Citizen”, Barrister Wakili said: “The partnership seeks to reinforce the impact of the platform in promoting active citizen participation in governance as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections. WAI will embark on aggressive civic awareness campaigns to encourage citizens to take a more active role in the democratic process.”
In his remarks, Hon. Sani Danaudi Mohammed, Speaker of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Bauchi State Chapter, commended We Aid Initiative for galvanising the aspirations of youths and pledged that the Youth Parliament of Nigeria, Bauchi Chapter, would always be available to support such efforts.
