Bauchi police parade two robbery, kidnap, rape suspects

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two armed robbery suspects who allegedly killed a 65-year-old man and kidnapped four of his  daughters whom they repeatedly raped.

Parading the suspects before journalists at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday, the Police Public Relation Officer of the state command, Kamal Datti Abubakar, said that the suspects demanded N1 million as ransom before the release of their captors.

“The Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad Bauchi acting on credible intelligence report arrested two suspects, Yakubu Adamu, 23 years; and Dalhatu Mamma, 42 years, both of Burga village, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area in possession of pump action gun and cutlass.

“The suspects had on 19/02/18 stormed the residence of one Ahmadu Adamu, 65 years, of Zungur Dutse Village in Bauchi LGA and robbed him of his GSM handset, thereafter shot him dead and kidnapped the following women to Tasha. Mai-Alewa mountain where they raped them repeatedly  and demanded the sum of one million Naira as ransom before there release”.

Abubakar said the suspects confessed to their crime, adding that they were cooperating with police in the investigation.

Exhibits  recovered from them, according to the PPRO,  are one pump action gun and one cutlass.

In a related development, the police also paraded four suspected armed robbers who killed a 25-year-old man and snatched his motorcycle.

Abubakar said, “The police operatives attached to Darazo police station arrested four suspects, Abdullahi  Garba, Adamu Abdullahi, Abdullahi Galadima and Babangida Yusuf. 1st suspect Abdullahi Garba aka Canabaro criminally deceived one Umar Shuaibu, 25 years, to convey him on his Boxer Motorcycle valued at N240,000 to Zoro village in Darazo LGA. While on their way in a bush path the said Abdullahi Garba and Abdullahi Galadima hit the victim Umar Shuaibu with an iron rod and stabbed him with a knife severally as a result he died on the spot. Thereafter they went away with his motorcycle”.

He said that the suspects confessed to their crime and that they were assisting the police in the investigation.

The PPRO said that the successes recorded in the arrest of criminals were due to the proactive step taken by the command under the leadership of CP Sanusi Lemu in the area of visibility policing, intelligent gathering and constant raids of hideout of criminals.

He said that the efforts to rid the state of crime and criminal activities have yielded fruit and appealed to members of the public to always cooperate with the police by ensuring that they give information that will to the arrest and prosecution of criminals in the state.
