Bauchi Caretaker Committee slam, federal lawmakers, rallies support for governor

-

The chairmen of Caretaker Committees in Bauchi State have slammed the members of the National Assembly from the state for reporting  Governor Mohammed Abubakar to the National headquarters of the All Progressives Party (APC) in Abuja over his style of leadership.

On behalf of the Caretaker Chairmen, Umar Adamu Zabi of Giade Local Government Council, addressed the press at the NUJ Secretariat in Bauchi on Friday. He warned that the lawmakers’ action was capable of undermining the authority of the leadership of the  party in the state.

He said that the lawmakers worked against the interest of the people of the state.

Pledging their 100 percent loyalty to Governor Abubakar administration, the Caretaker chairmen advised the National Assembly members to stop interfering in the governance of the state and focus on their legislative duties, adding that the Federal lawmakers had no regard for the party in the state and the executive governor.

Adamu Zani  mentioned the Speaker Yakubu Dogara, all the elected Senators and House of Representatives members from the state with the exception of the member representing Toro Federal constituency and the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, as those who protested to the National headquarters of the APC.

On the allegation that Abubakar was owing the state workers three months salary, Zabi said that the protesting federal lawmakers were being mischievous because they were in the picture that the administration inherited three months backlog of salary arrears, adding that the governor had upset them with some workers being owed one month salary.

Zabi denied the allegation that Abubakar was not carrying the elected officials and other stakeholders along as he was running an exclusive government.

He said that the governor carried all the groups along in most of the appointments he made.

According to him, “The alleged that the governor does not consult them. Did anyone of them consult  the governor on their constituency projects?  Why are they saying that the governor must consult them on his governance? They should face their work in the National Assembly because the governor doesn’t need to consult them.”

He alleged that the Federal lawmakers’ action was not unconnected with 2019 but warned them that power belongs to God who gives it to whom he pleases.

He said: “They want to cause confusion in the state and divert attention from the budget padding and allegations of corruption leveled against the National Assembly. They are losing focus. We assure you that the governor and the workers of the state are in good terms. They are not speaking for the workers.”
