Bauchi State chapter of APC National Coalition for Peace and Mobilization (NACOPEAM) has applauded the decision of the Federal Government to resume exploration and exploitation activities for hydrcarbon in the Northeast sub-region of the country.
The coalition also supported the proposed Northeast Development Commission being deliberated by the National Assembly.
It called on President Muhammadu Buhari to approve Bauchi as the headquarters of the commission.
Bauchi State Coordinator of the coalition, Comrade Nuru Badamasi, who spoke in Bauchi, also commended
the Buhari-led Federal government for tackling the Boko Haram insurgency that had taken over most of the Northeast and many parts of the country.
“Before May 29, 2015 when the APC took power from the PDP, at least four out of six states of the Northeast were effectively under the control of Boko Haram.
He also noted that since the commencement of the war against corruption within a short period of time, trillions of naira looted by officials of the PDP administration were recovered, while not less than 50 highly placed persons both military and politicians are being brought before courts to account for the culpability and complicity.
According to him, the entrenchment of probity, accountability and discipline in governance and even the organized private sector has made the country a better destination for Foreign Direct Investment to turn round the Nigerian economy.
Badamasi also recalled that Governor Mohammed Abubakar APC administration in Bauchi State came to power at a time of great social and economic doldrums bequeathed to it by the outgone PDP government that left empty state treasury with backlog of unpaid salaries running into months and decayed infrastructure.
