Bandits strike again in Kwara, abduct traditional ruler

The bandits allegedly kidnapped the monarch on Saturday morning on his farm.

‎Bandits have abducted a traditional ruler, the Ojibara of Bayagan, Oba Kamilu Salami.

​Bayagan is a community located in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

​‎TheNiche learnt that the monarch was kidnapped on Saturday morning on his farm. However, details surrounding the incident remain sketchy as of the time of filing this report.

​Residents said the attack happened suddenly, leaving the community in fear and confusion.

​When contacted on the abduction of the monarch, Ejire Adeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said she was not aware of the development but promised to contact the DPO in the area.

​“I’m not aware but I will get in touch with the DPO in that area and give you updates shortly,” she said.

​Prior to the latest incident, bandits had abducted 38 congregants in a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke-Isegun in Eruku, in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

​Although those kidnapped were eventually released by the abductors after negotiations took place, the attack claimed the lives of three worshipers.
