Babalola tasks Deepwater players on focus

Players and officials of First Deepwater Basketball Club of Lagos have been charged to remain focused after their brilliant performance at the just-concluded first phase of the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League.

 

First Deepwater won all its games in the first phase of the league which ended on Saturday, March 29, at the Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Abuja.

While First Deepwater came tops from Group A, First Bank Basketball Club also of Lagos emerged from Group B.

“I am happy with the performance of the team during the first phase of the league, but they should put that behind them and remain focused ahead of the second phase,” said proprietor of the club, Babatunde Babalola.

 

Sixteen teams began the race for the top prize and will assemble in Ilorin, Kwara State, for the second phase, which holds between May 1 and 11.

Babalola urged the players to maintain their victory run in the second phase, hoping to lead other teams to Lagos for the final phase.

 

First Deepwater under the tutelage of Coach Lateef Erinfolami remained the champions of the Nigerian women’s basketball League for the fourth year successively after defeating Dolphins Club of Lagos 82-74 points in the final match of the last year’s league played inside the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
