There is a change of guard in the leadership of the pan-Yoruba socio- political organization, Afenifere.
Pa Reuben Fasoranti who has been at the helm of affairs of the foremost Yoruba group since 2008 stepped down, creating room for the deputy leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, to step in as the acting national leader.
He announced his stepping down at the group’s monthly meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Pa Fasoranti who is 95 years old said he was now aged to continue in the capacity of national leader.
Ironically, his successor, Chief Adebanjo, is not a spring chicken himself. He will be 93 years in April.
Former financial secretary, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, the Alaago of Kajola Ago, Atakumosa East council area, Ilesa, Osun State was named the group’s deputy leader.
