AY while replying Wizkid, posted a video of a younger version of himself rapping with backup singers in what seemed like a church setting

Popular Nigerian actor, comedian and film director, Ayodeji Richard Makun better known as AY, has sent the internet buzzing after sharing a throwback video of him rapping before he found fame.
AY’s video was a reply to Wizkid’s comment about Nigerian rappers which became contentious on social media for days.
Wizkid, during a recent interview with 10 magazine applauded the growth of the Afrobeats music in the international scene, but seemingly aimed a dig at rapper artistes.
The “Essence” crooner said he only listens to Afrobeats because most songs produced in other genres don’t catch his attention and went on to describe rap music as “boring” and “dead”.
However, in a recent clip that surfaced on the internet, a younger and slimmer version of the comedian was seen rapping with backup singers in what seemed like a church setting.

While cracking a joke in the video, AY advised anyone who got shocked by his throwback video to console themselves with a recent ‘rich man’ video beside it.
He wrote on Instagram, “I am still waiting for @wizkidayo to apologize to me personally. He has no right to talk down on our industry. How can he say he doesn’t listen to rap music because the genre is dull, dead, and tired?
“Anyways, just remember that I warned you about the next video…. But if you insist, kindly let the last video console your vision. God is a great God. #throwbackthursday”
Meanwhile, ace Nigerian singer, Olamide has finally responded to comments made by Grammy-Award winner, Wizkid that Hip-Hop music (rap genre) is boring and dead.
Taking to his verified Instagram page, Olamide stood up for the rap music genre, as he wrote, “We ain’t never left, acting like we back, you should see us now taking pictures acting like we rap.”
