Sequel to allegations of age cheat among Customs officers, the public relations officer of Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), Joseph Attah, has said that no customs Officer of the service is facing probe over alleged age cheat.
Attah said contents of the media report alleging wide scale allegation of age falsification by Customs officers were untrue.
Attah added that such reports which could result in litigation is a unnecessary distraction that will not be allowed to derail the ongoing efforts at biometric capturing of the Service staff strength.
According to Attah, the NCS is in the process of automating it’s staff records for ease of human resource information and administrative purposes.
Attah said the Service is evolving full automation of personnel records through biometric capturing so that the service will not have to be searching through files for records of serving or retired officers.
“Upon completion of our automation, information on all Officers and men shall be easily accessed at the click of a button using latest ICT facility for such record keeping.
“This is one of the modernisation masterstroke being put in place by the Comptroller General of Customs, Col Hameed Ali for ease of administration and seamless access to staff records with the required backup for information security,” Attah said.
