Renan Lodi puts Atletico Madrid into the quarter-finals of UEFA Champions League (UCL) after scoring the only goal of the game in the 41st minute

Atletico Madrid sealed a quarter-final spot in this year’s Champions League after defeating Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Ralf Rangnick’s side got out of the blocks the quickest and dominated ball possession but failed to break down a resolute Atletico defence
Despite Uniteds’ bright start, it was Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix who saw his goal ruled out because there was an offside in the build-up to the goal.

The visitors were eventually rewarded in the 41st minute when left-back Renan Lodi headed in Antoine Griezmann’s brilliant cross to make it 1-0 to Atletico Madrid.
The La Liga side then soaked pressure from Man United but held on to win the game and progress to the next stage on 3-2 aggregate.
Manchester United after their elimination will need to finish fourth in the Premier League if they want to be part of the elite European competition next season.
Atletico Madrid on the other hand are through and will now await their opponent in the rounds of eight when the draw takes place on Friday, March 18 at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
