A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, James Bwala has described recent claims by Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo on oil theft in the Niger Delta region as troubling and outlandish

Bwala who is the media aide to PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar also criticized Asari Dokubo’s visit to President Bola Tinubu.

Dokubo during a recent visit to the President had linked oil bunkering in the Niger Delta to the Army and other top military officials.

According to the former Niger Delta warlord, ordinary citizens do not have the resources and technology to engage in oil bunkering.

He went on to allege that the army and navy intimidate personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who are supposed to protect oil pipelines.

He said: “The army and the navy intimidate the civil defence who are by status, the people who are supposed to guard these pipelines.

“They receive a lot of money from NNPC, PCL and the IOCs and just across the corner, you will see a houseboat a few meters from the houseboat, you will see an oil bunkering refinery or tapping directly from oil well ends. It is very pathetic now.”

But in reaction to his claims, Bwala wondered what qualified Dokubo to grant a press briefing after visiting the president.

He also thrashed his claims against the military, saying they are without specific examples, facts or investigative reports

Taking to his Twitter handle, Bwala wrote: “Today Asari Dokubo visited President Tinubu and after the meeting, he went to the press room to address the press in what capacity I do not know.

“Secondly he made blanket and outlandish claims without specific examples, facts or investigative reports against the Nigerian army without qualification. This is troubling.”
