Atiku visits Obasanjo ahead declaration for 2023 presidency

Atiku holds talks with Obasanjo about his interest to contest the presidency for the fourth time as a candidate and fifth time in all

In a matter of days, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is expected to formally declare his presidential ambition for the 2023 race. 

Ahead of the declaration, Atiku this  morning visited his former boss, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, over his presidential bid in 2023.

Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the  2019 election, had set up a technical committee headed by founder of the Africa Independent Television  (AIT) to feel the pulse of the people about his interest to contest the 2023 election. The group has given the 76-year-old the greenlight that his ambition resonates with the people.

Atiku, has, on his part, being consulting other Nigerians about his decision to contest the presidency. 

This morning, Atiku arrived the penthouse residence log Obasanjo located within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, around 10:00am and went straight into a meeting with the former president.

Although the former Vice President has not officially declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election, he has commenced consultation.

Atiku was Obasanjo’s vice during his reign between 1999 and 2007.

He vied for the presidential seat in 2007, 2011 and 2019.

Daily Trust reports that Atiku alongside his aides stormed Abeokuta on Friday ahead of the Saturday’s consultation.
