Supporters of the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar are rallying behind him to challenge the outcome of the election in court.
They have set up a GoFundMe account to help Atiku challenge Buhari’s victory in court.
According to a statement on the GoFundMe website, “independently collated figures show that the opposition candidate, Atiku Abubakar, won the popular votes across 26 states but he was wrongfully denied victory. Ultimately, however, ordinary Nigerians lost out as their voting voices were overruled.”
”Some of us strongly believe that there is enough evidence to discredit the process and upturn the results as announced by INEC. Astonishingly, the polity has been replete with calls by a minority allied to the beneficiaries of the rigging for Atiku Abubakar not to challenge the process in court,” they said.
Supporters say they are responding to calls from prominent Nigerians who believe Atiku has a chance in court.
As at the time of filing this report, it is not clear if the effort has the backing of Atiku who recently raised the alarm that the federal government is persecuting his family for supporting him.
