The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has on behalf of the party and its Governorship candidate in state, Alhaji Umar Nasko, donated N5 million cash to victims of the fire disaster at the Abdulkadir Kure ultra modern market, Minna, Niger State.
Atiku had visited the scene of the incident where he did not only promise to ensure that the affected traders were compensated but released N5 million cash to support the victims most of whom lost all their wares in the early morning inferno.
The state PDP gubernatorial candidate on behalf of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar handed the sum of N5 million cash to the Abdulkadir Kure market committee at his campaign office in Minna on Thursday.
Also, the Zone ‘B’ Senatorial candidate of the party, Ibrahim Ishaku (SAN), the House of Representatives candidate, Malam Audu Buba, and State House of Assembly candidate, Alhaji Kabiru Jazu donated N1 million each to support the affected traders.
Receiving the cash on behalf of the traders, the chairman of the Kure market committee, Mallam Shehu Ahmed Wawo, thanked the Presidential candidate and the state PDP Guber candidate for their benevolence, assuring that the money would get to the affected traders.
The market supervisor also known as Sakin Kasuwa, Mallam Ado Garba, while thanking the PDP Presidential, governorship and other PDP candidates for their assistance, pleaded with the state government and individuals to support the victims to start life afresh.
Recall that an early morning inferno gutted about 50 shops containing kegs of cooking oil, provision stores and clothing materials on Friday, January 4, 2019 worth hundreds of millions.
