Atiku Abubakar did not dash me N500m gift – Adamawa Gov Bindow

-

Adamawa State Governor Muhammed Bindow said he did not receive a personal gift of N500 million from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as being peddled in some quarters.

Rather, VP Atiku donated the money for All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship and state assembly campaign activities, Bindow said.

The governor was emphatic with his clarification in a phone call to journalists on Wednesday, explaining that the sum was donated by the former vice president for the 2015 APC governorship and state assembly elections campaign activities in the state.

In Bindow’s words, ‘’Contrary to the allegation which has gone viral in the social media, I didn’t receive N500 million from the former vice president as personal gift. The former vice president donated the money for the APC governorship and state assembly campaign activities and not to “Mohammed Umaru Jibrilla Bindow.”

‘’The former vice president demanded to know how much the APC governorship and state assembly campaign committee will need to ensure effective prosecution of the campaign.

‘’A bill of N300 million was forwarded to him, but he gave N500 million for the exercise as part of his contribution as a party loyalist.

‘’The money was released by the former vice president on conclusion of the APC presidential primaries.

‘’It is expedient for me to put the record straight because the allegations have gone viral in some online media that I have received a personal gift of N500 million from Atiku Abubakar.”
