Athletics: Gombe launches Inter-school championship

The Gombe Athletics Association has initiated a hunt for talent with the Inter-Secondary Schools Athletics Competition planned to be held on September 29th 2024 at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
A statement by the organizing committee chairman, Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe expressed delight at the level of progress made by the three sub-committees, especially the Transport, Accommodation, Media and Technical Committee.
Gombe expressed gratitude to various heads of Committees for a good job following reports by Secretary, Mr Tanko Adamu which was unanimously accepted owing to the progress made so far and efforts deployed in visiting proposed schools and games villages.
The sub-committee also presented a letter of approval by the SUBEB Gombe, Educational Secretary and Ministry of Education.

The secretary outlined areas that needed urgent attention, as toilets and the urgent need for Environmental sanitation (GOSEPA) to fumigate the Games Village.
Another sub-committee report on media was presented by Secretary Yakubu Maikudi on the Radio jingle content which was approved by MoC after deliberation.
A presentation by the Technical Committee Secretary Simon Ayuba centred on Medals, Meal Tickets, Committee Tags, and Numbering tags for Athletes in Camp.
The 29th of September, 2024 was accepted and approved as the date for the Opening Ceremony of the first Gombe State Inter Secondary Schools Athletics Championship.
The communique also includes the appointment of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jauro Usman of the Nigeria police force as the substantive Camp Commandant, Assisted by Mr. Ibrahim Isyaku, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and ketos Jerry Turawa from GOSTEC as a member.
