Nigerian music sensation, songwriter and Afrobeats singer, Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake is making headlines over a video of him that surfaced on social media recently.
In the now-viral video, Asake while speaking about his experience with ace singer and YBNL label boss, Olamide, revealed he has been sending text messages to him since 2020 to help him, but the singer wouldn’t reply.
He went on to speak about how the YBNL boss helped the likes of Fireboy DML and Chinko Ekun, who were his schoolmates, and how he exploited the gestures to blackmail the music star to sign him.

The 27-year-old recounted how he finally met Olamide and how his rise to fame and fortune began after he dropped his hit song ‘Omo Ope’
According to Asake, Olamide after years of ignoring his messages finally sent him a text message one morning saying he should see him.
The singer added at that point, he didn’t know what to wear because he wanted to impress him.
After they met, Asake marveled at how the ‘Totori’ crooner made it easy for him to join YBNL.
He said, “Olamide said it like it was nothing, will you like to join YBNL family? I didn’t know what to say than to say yes.”
He concluded by saying after the record label owner handed him the contract letter to go and study at home before signing, he became desperate and wanted to put pen to paper immediately.
