“Jorginho to Arsenal, here we go! Deal agreed on £12m fee, Chelsea accept conditions and documents are being prepared.

“Personal terms agreed, contract until 2024 with option further year.

“First contact revealed yesterday night — medical booked.” he tweeted.

The Gunners will pay £10million up front to the Blues, with a further two million in add-ons which could hinge on the North London’s club lifting the Premier League trophy.

Jorginho is expected to join on an initial 18 month contract with the option to extend the deal by a further year.

Arsenal, who are light in the midfield area, are desperate to add a central midfielder to the squad after a long-term injury to Egypt international, Mohamed Elneny left them short in the middle of the park.

Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo had been their main target, but after two bids for the Ecuadorian rejected by the Seagulls, who insisted he is not for sale, Arsenal backed off from the deal and approached Chelsea for Jorginho.

Arteta’s move for the 31-year-old is not expected to negatively impact Arsenal’s long-standing interest in West Ham United midfielder, Declan Rice

The England international remains Gunner’s main target for the summer, where they could swoop to sign him for around £80million from fellow London club.
