According to trusted transfer website, Fichajes, English Premier League leaders, Arsenal have joined the race to secure the services of the Villarreal attacker.

The Gunners are in the market for a backup for England star Bukayo Saka on the right side, with the inexperienced Marquinhos also seeking a loan move away from the Emirates Stadium.

This will not be the first time Arsenal would show interest in the Nigerian, as the club appeared to be Chukwueze’s likeliest destination a few years ago after the then-teenager starred as Nigeria won the 2015 FIFA u17 World Cup.

But negotiations broke down and the youngster ended up at Villarreal

Mikel Arteta has now identified Chukwueze, a player who has plenty of experience at the top level at a young age, a smart move but the Gunners boss will face stiff competition from Unai Emery, Chukwueze’s former boss in Spain, who recently joined Aston Villa following the sacking of Steven Gerrard.

“Arsenal, Aston Villa and Everton could wage a battle for the signature of Samuel Chukwueze, who has the characteristics to succeed in the Premier League,” the website wrote.

Chukwueze is an exciting young winger who came through the Villarreal youth team and has already made 24 appearances playing for the Super Eagles at just 23.

He has since then notched 15 goals and 14 assists in 130 appearances for the Yellow Submarines.
