Arise TV has issued an apology to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, over a fake report on the candidate and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The broadcast station had reported that INEC launched investigation into a case of criminal forfeiture against Tinubu.

The fake Arise TV report said INEC was liaising with a court in the United States of America to determine possible violation of the Electoral Act 2022.

But INEC, according to its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, denied making such move.

“We wish to state categorically that the said press release did not emanate from the commission nor is it pursuing the purported course of action. It is the handiwork of mischief makers and utterly fake,” Okoye said on Saturday in Abuja.
