APGA National Chairman disowns faction that endorsed Abia PDP gov candidate

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, said on Wednesday that the former state chairman of the party, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu, has since September 2014 been suspended from the party.

Umeh, who addressed a press conference in Umuahia, dissociated the party from the purported endorsement of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, by Ukaegbu.

He described Ukaegbu as ‘’a traitor,’’ saying that ‘’the so called endorsement truly confirms our initial suspicion that he is working for Governor Theodore Orji to distabilise APGA in Abia.’’

‘’He was suspended from the party since September 2014. How can he say that APGA has endorsed a governorship candidate when the party has the best governorship candidate in Nigeria in the ongoing general elections?

‘’APGA adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate because the party did not present its own presidential candidate for the general election,’’ Umeh said.

He dismissed Ukaegbu’s action as inconsequential and urged the Abia electorate to vote massively for Otti, describing him as ‘’the best suitable candidate to revamp Abia.’’

He said that Otti has the managerial capability and the reach to transform the state.

He said that the party ‘’is desperately looking for capable hands to support Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra to rebuild the Igboland,’’ adding that ‘’Otti is one of such dependable materials.’’

He said that with the defeat of PDP at the national level, it was time for Ndigbo to form a formidable support for the emergence of APGA governors, who can help to rebuild the zone politically and economically.
