The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria has advised the opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to stop shopping around for supporters; but face Nigerians in 2019 general election.
The APC National Publicity Secretary,
Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, gave the advice in a statement titled, “PDP: Looking for Life after Death.”
He said that after three years in the wilderness, PDP was excited with the possibility of hiding its bad image under the heap of a new coalition.
According to him, like the vulture, PDP sees every altercation as a potential opportunity for a feast.
“If PDP is not alleging wild conspiracies, it is threatening to boycott elections or announcing fake defections. What is clear with all these is that no matter how long a leopard lives, it cannot change its spots,” he said.
On efforts by APC leadership to woo back the defecting members, Abdullahi said that President Muhammadu Buhari and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the party, were just persuading every aggrieved member not to leave the APC.
He pointed out that party politics was a game of number, stressing, “that game is addition.”
He said that if the PDP had the same presence of mind in 2015, perhaps the calamity that befell it would have been averted.
