As the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election committee members commence the process of counting out the votes in the presidential primary election, it has become apparent that the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will emerge winner.
Tinubu has been dominating the counting of the votes by a wide and decisive margin that will make it impossible for any upset to occur.
Tinubu was closely followed by Professor Yemi Osinbajo who trails far behind Tinubu. But former transportation minister, Rotimi Amaechi, later overtake the Vice President in the vote count.
Yahaya Bello, Dave Umahi and Professor Ben Ayade also make the list of aspirants who have gotten votes.
Other aspirants in the election have not gotten any vote so far.
At the end of the contest, Tinubu will be giving a victory speech in which he will likely appreciate the delegates who stepped down for him and appeal to his opponents in the race to join hands with him in the main election against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi.

The delegates of the APC gathered to vote on Tuesday in a primary election to choose the party’s candidate for next year’s election to replace the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
More than 2,300 APC delegates will select the candidate to face 75-year-old Atiku Abubakar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party among others in the February 25 presidential ballot.
Buhari, who is stepping down after the two terms he is allowed in the constitution, arrived at the Eagle Square convention centre early in the evening before voting was to start.
The Nigerian leader has spent days leading up to the convention in negotiations with the APC’s leaders seeking unity over a party candidate.
“The fate of the party depends on what we do here,” APC party chairman Abdullahi Adamu said, echoing Buhari’s call for unity in the ranks.
