The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today hold governorship primaries nationwide.
The APC primaries will hold in all states across the country, except Lagos and Imo states.
The national leadership of the APC had earlier announced the postponement of the governorship primaries in Lagos and Imo States from today, Sunday to Monday, October 1.
The national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, said the postponement was due to inadequate logistics.
Also, the development comes amidst stiff contest for the party’s governorship ticket between incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Jide Sanwo-Olu.
The PDP will also hold governorship primaries today in all states except Lagos, Imo and Kano states.
The national publicity secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan on Sunday confirmed that the primaries will hold and dismissed reports that it has been postponed.
He, however, revealed that new dates will be communicated for primary in Kano, Imo and Lagos states.

KANO APC PRIMARY
In Kano State, the APC governorship primaries commenced around 10:00 am.
The primary election which will determine the APC candidate for the governorship seat ahead of 2019 elections, is holding across 484 wards of the 44 local government areas of the state.
