APC group rails against OCCRP, says Tinubu’s “transformative contributions to Nigeria over the past year are indisputable”

A group loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has railed against the one of the “World’s Most Corrupt, Organised Crime Person of the Year 2024” award conferred on Bola Tinubu by the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) – ostensibly to mock the “Man of the Year Award” conferred on the President last week by ThisDay and Arise Television.

All-Progressives Congress (APC) United States Chapter (APC USA), led by Tai Balofin, a professor, described the parody award as a disingenuous ploy to sow discord and disaffection among Nigerians, arguing that such “unfounded assertions” disguised as international accolades are harmful to national unity and progress.

APC USA  rejects and demands the immediate withdrawal of the so-called “award, which is a direct affront to the integrity of Nigeria’s leadership,” the group protested in a statement issued on Monday by Balofin.

“This malicious campaign is a deliberate attempt by enemies of progress to derail the President’s tireless efforts to liberate Nigeria from years of stagnation and chart a course toward prosperity,” he added.

The group insisted that allegations of corruption, certificate forgery, and drug-related activities leveled against Tinubu by OCCRP are unfounded, saying they  represent a calculated attempt to undermine the legacy of a leader whose transformative contributions to Nigeria over the past year are indisputable.

“It is time for Nigerians to embrace constructive criticism over baseless accusations, joining forces to propel our nation forward for the collective good.

“It is crucial to remind proponents of this ‘pull him down’ narrative that President Tinubu has been cleared of these allegations by United States authorities. Resurfacing resolved matters not only discredits the nation’s leadership but also undermines Nigeria’s global standing.

“President Tinubu, a visionary leader and advocate of the “Emilokan” ideology, continues to earn respect as the President of the world’s most populous Black nation. Despite relentless attacks, he remains focused on delivering on his mandate and advancing Nigeria’s progress.”

The group urged Nigerians to rise above divisive narratives and extend their unwavering support to the Tinubu administration.
