The All Progressives Congress (APC) has replied the comments made by Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as a prophet of “doom’.
Obi during a press conference on Thursday, asserted that Nigeria’s economic and security challenges under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the past 18 months have worsened.
The former Anambra State governor, also dared the incumbent president to visit Nigerian hospitals and “once in a while” take short trips by road “to feel the deplorable state of public roads”.
Responding to Obi’s comments via a statement made available by APC’s spokesperson, Felix Morka, the ruling party disagreed with him, noting that in the past months, the country’s economy has made progress.

APC went on to say the claims by the LP chieftain on the country’s economy and security are misleading and intended to score cheap political points.
“While Nigerians celebrated the new year with hope for a more glorious 2025, Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, was seemingly stuck in a replay of his jangling, gloom-ridden wishlist for our country.
“Obi’s New Year message, in which he claimed that our dear country’s political, economic, and security situation is worsening daily, is misleading and appears intended to score cheap political points.
“This claim, at a time when all indicators show that our country is rebounding in significant measure across all sectors, casts Obi, squarely, as Nigeria’s leading doomsayer,” Morka stated.
