The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of masterminding the attempted murder of Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Tuesday, November 17.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, said the lives of key opposition members have become endangered at the hands of the APC.

But APC acting National Publicity Secretary, Timi Frank, riposted that it is unfortunate the PDP has resorted to blackmail and is yet to purge itself of its manipulative strategies that helped “escort it to the doldrums that it is in today.”

He said the APC is known for adherence to the rule of law and respect for the sanctity of life, whereas the past 16 years of the PDP’s rule witnessed the murder of politicians such as Bola Ige, Harry Marshall, and Funso Williams without attempt to unravel the assassins.

Frank added that “it would therefore be unfortunate for the PDP to elevate this strategic act it had perfected over the years to a political art or a propaganda tool.

“Nigerians all over the world know that President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC are more concerned with cleaning the mess the PDP-led government bequeathed to the government than in chasing after lousy and cheap propaganda of a misplaced party that is pretending to be chasing self restitution.”

Frank urged the public to disregard the latest propaganda of the PDP.

He wondered why an alleged assassination attempt at Nigeria’s number three citizen would be without any security report, with the police denying the existence of such, even as police and State Security Service (SSS) officers formed part of Ekweremadu’s security detail.

“The security challenges of the time, bequeathed to us by the PDP who would rather embezzle funds meant for protection of lives and properties, necessitate that … Buhari and the APC get more concerned on how to bring the situation to a stop,” Frank explained.

He said this is “manifested by the December deadline” Buhari issued to the security agencies to flush out Boko Haram instead of “cheap political propaganda and machinations peculiar to and orchestrated by the PDP.

“Governance is a serious businesses and this the APC is committed to showing.”
