The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) States Assembly Forum, Dagogo Fubara, has backed a claim by Lauretta Onochie, a former aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, that the ruling party denied aspirants nomination forms despite them meeting all requirements.

Fubara confirmed the development on Tuesday during an appearance as a guest on the Arise Television programme, ‘Prime Time’.

His allegation followed the screening of aspirants seeking various national offices on the APC platform at its National Convention on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

Prior to the event, Onochie had raised the alarm, alleging that the party refused to issue forms to several aspirants after collecting substantial sums of money from them.

Speaking via her verified X handle, she said: “How did the APC become a ‘419’ political association? Across the nation, APC aspirants are paying huge amounts of money for forms, but the APC refuses to give them the forms they have paid for.

“They have already nominated the candidates but are still selling forms. This is not democracy. This is fraud. Whatever Tinubu touches, he destroys.”

While confirming her claims during his interview, Fubara said it was not his first time running for a position at a national convention.

He stated that the organisers of the event claimed they had printed limited copies of the forms.

Lamenting the situation, Fubara said: “After paying for the forms and fulfilling all the necessary requirements, we were denied the opportunity to get the aspirant nomination forms.

“We all paid that money. They received the money and we went for clearance. We were cleared in accordance with the rules and regulations of the convention. We were asked to go to the organising department for the forms to be issued. When we got there, they told me that they’ve exhausted the forms.

“We started this system in 2012. I was happy that this convention would usher in a lot of youngsters to serve this party, since President Bola Tinubu has nurtured us.

“We—more especially those from the ACN extraction—have seen ourselves as viable candidates for elective positions all these years. So, we were surprised when a microscopic few in the system said the forms had been exhausted.”
