Gbenga Ogbara was shot dead in his sitting room in the early hours of Monday in Igangan, his hometown, says the police
The build-up to July 16, 2022, Osun governorship election is gradually becoming bloody. This morning, unknown gunmen suspected to be hired assassins stormed the home of Gbenga Ogbara, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Atakumosa East Central Local Government Area of the state.
According to media reports, Gbenga Ogbara was shot dead in his sitting room in the early hours of today at Igangan, his hometown.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident to journalists in Osogbo, the state capital.

She said: “The APC Chairman was killed around 12 am by some gunmen. Policemen have been deployed to the area. Investigation is ongoing on the matter.”
The Osun election is billed for July 16, barely three months from now.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates eligible to participate in the election.
There are 16 candidates that are vying for the top job of the state, but all eyes will be on the candidates of the APC, Gboyega Oyetola, who is the incumbent governor, and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ademola Adeleke.
