APC axes Amosun, Okorocha over anti-party activities

-

Ahead of March 9 governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended two of its governors; Rochas Okorocha of Imo state and Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State for supporting candidates other than that of the party.

The suspension was long coming but for the presidential election which delayed it because of the roles, they were expected to play.

Okorocha was suspended for supporting his son-in-law, who is the governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA), Uche Nwosu in the election instead of Hope Uzodinma, APC’s candidate.

For Amosun, he is backing the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Adekunle Akinlade instead of the APC candidate, Dapo Abiodun.

The Nation Newspaper also reported that the NWC also decided to query Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, where the party lost two senatorial seats and the presidential election to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in the February 23 election.

Both Okorocha and Amosun won the Senate seats in the February 23 election under the platform of APC.
