Apapa Customs command nets N32.1b for August

-

The Apapa command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collected the sum of N32.1 billion as revenue for the month of August, 2017.

The command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Nkiruka Nwala, disclosed this in an interview in Lagos on Monday.

She noted that the amount was collected notwithstanding low economic activities, traffic gridlock within Apapa axis and forex instability hindering business transactions in the maritime sector of the economy.

She stated that the current Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the command, Comptroller Musa Jibril was supervising the activities of the command in full compliance with the new Executive Order of the Federal Government on ease of doing business in the port.

“The Apapa Customs Command is maintaining its lead in maximum revenue generation among other Commands in the country. For example, apart from the revenue realised in August 2017, the Command in its half year records made N165.7 billion, which represents 49.06 percent collection on target for the year.

“The Command also maintains a good working synergy with other government agencies operating within the port. For instance, the CAC initiated a forum for Heads of security agencies and the meeting was called to enhance greater collaboration in line with the ease of doing business mandate.

“ was put in place for all agencies working in the ports to have a common interface, just like a one-stop-shop platform for seamless cargo clearing procedures and maximum security for the port”, she stated.
