The Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has clarified that circulating reports claiming that veteran Nollywood actor, Olalere OsunPaimo, popularly known as Lere Paimo or Eda Onile Ola, is false.
The association made this known on Saturday via an official statement signed by its National Public Relations Officer, Adejonwo Oluwafemi.
ANTP was reacting to reports by several media outlets that the cultural icon passed away on Friday, November 28, at the age of 86 in his Ogbomosho town in Oyo state after succumbing to old-age related ailments.
While confirming that the thespian, who features more in Yoruba movies, is alive and in good health, Oluwafemi said the news is being circulated by “unscrupulous individuals.”

The statement read: “We would like to inform the public that reports circulating on Facebook about the passing of Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR) are false.
“We have confirmed with Baba Eda Onile Ola’s wife that he is alive and in good health.
“Please disregard these false reports and be aware that they are being spread by unscrupulous individuals.”
ANTP urged the public to verify information before sharing unconfirmed reports, warning against the spread of misinformation.
“We urge everyone to verify information before sharing to avoid spreading misinformation,” the statement added.
