Anti-APC rant: You don’t need this vengeance mission, Bwala tells El-Rufai
By Jeffrey Agbo
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communications to President Bola Tinubu, has cautioned former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, against what he describes as a “vengeance mission.”
El-Rufai, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently criticised the party for lacking internal democracy and functional structures. At a national conference in Abuja, he stated, “I no longer recognize the APC. No party organ has met in two years—no caucus, no NEC, nothing.”
Bwala had earlier challenged El-Rufai on whether he would maintain such criticism if he were serving in Tinubu’s government, to which the former governor affirmed. Responding via X on Thursday, El-Rufai dismissed any interest in a role within the administration and accused Bwala and others of hypocrisy.

However, Bwala countered, emphasising that both he and El-Rufai contributed to Tinubu’s emergence as APC’s 2023 presidential candidate, cautioning the ex-governor for saying he was a “latter-day” supporter of Tinubu.
He urged the former governor to reconsider his stance, stating, “My worry however is the motive behind your statements and actions; they are not borne out of patriotism, but need for vengeance. The opposition see that singular element of vengeance as a veritable tool for your recruitment.”
Bwala also defended APC’s organisational structure, urging El-Rufai to return and address his grievances constructively.
“I still think you don’t need all these melodramatic activities or a vengeance mission. Come back and resolve whatever you think is your grievances like a dignified man that you are. Our party APC as of today remains the only organized party with identifiable structures across the country. So if you are looking for any symbol of democracy, it is still in your party.” he said.
