He said that the policemen from the nearest divisional command on receipt of a distress call mobilised police officers to the area.

“But before our men got to the scene of the incident, the two of the suspects were already set ablaze by the angry mob while the third suspect ran away,” he said.

Numan further explained that before police could get to the scene one of the two suspects set ablaze died “while our men were able to rescue the second one alive.”

He however said that the rescued suspect died while he was being taken to the hospital.

Numan said the command had commenced investigation in the matter with a warning to members of the public to desist from taking the laws into their hands.

He decried the mob action, saying it was unlawful and barbaric.

He said that the right thing to do in such circumstance was to invite the police or handover the suspects when caught to the appropriate security agencies.

Numan urged the public to report any suspicious persons and items to security agencies for prompt action. (NAN)
