Andy Uba casts vote, says victory sure for APC

Andy Uba is the APC candidate in the election, and has been strong in the electioneering. He believes he is winning the election

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Andy Uba, has voted at about 11:25 AM after several delays caused by the late arrival of the election personnel and materials.

The accreditation for Andy Uba didn’t take a long time once the election personnel and materials arrived.

The voters sauntered to the polling unit area once they saw the INEC personnel and the materials arrived.

After casting his vote, Andy Uba hurriedly answered questions from journalists without wanting to spend longer time with them. He told the journalists that APC will displace APGA at the end of the count.

Andy Uba’s polling unit does have the kind of sluggish accrediation being experienced at the polling unit of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Charles Soludo, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Valentine Ozigbo.

At Soludo’s polling unit, the accreditation machines have only accredited nine people in the first three hours into the election. For Ozigbo’s polling unit, an average of 15 minutes is required to vet a voter. But Andy Uba polling unit has no such concern. It takes about a minute to clear a voter and hand them their ballot papers. Whether this is by design or coincidence is not yet known.

Andy Uba is a major candidate in the election and has been pulling support with high profile politicians in the state defecting from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to his APC.

The elections will hold in 5,640 polling units across the 21 Local Governments and 326 wards of Anambra State

Anambra originally has 4,608 polling units, but INEC created additional 1,112 for the purpose of this election. 86 polling units have no registered voters; hence, elections won’t be taking place there.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says  2,525,471 registered voters would be participating in the election.

Security deployment

The Nigerian Police Force deployed announced that it would deploy more than 34,000 personnel outside those serving in the state for the election.

Apart from the police, the military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service and other paramilitary agencies deployed personnel for the election.
