Amusan had earlier won gold in the Women’s 100m Hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon

Nigerian hurdler and Women’s 100m Hurdles world record holder, Tobi Amusan has won gold in the same event at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
Like she did at the World Championship in Eugene, Oregon, she not only came first, but did so, setting a new Commonwealth Games record in the process.
She won the gold medal after clocking 12.30secs in the final of the event held in the early hours of Sunday, August 7.
Bahamas’ Devvyn Charlton won the silver medal with a time of 12.58 secs while England’s Cyndy Sember settled for the bronze medal with a time of 12.59secs.

Amusan opened her 2022 season by winning the 2022 Diamond League event in Paris, where she set an African record by 0.01s with a time of 12.41secs.
She won gold in the 100m hurdles at the 2022 African Championships in Mauritius, defending her title successfully with a time of 12.57secs.
After back-to-back 4th place finishes at A-rated competitions, she eventually won gold in the Women’s 100m Hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, setting a new world record of 12.12secs.
Amusan’s medal has now brought the number of Nigeria’s Gold medals at the Commonwealth Games to 10 and strengthened the country’s 6th position on the medal table.
