Amusan hails CAS’s verdict after WA, WADA lost appeal against her

Amusan would have missed out on the 2024 Olympic Games and suspended for two years had she lost at CAS

Nigerian huddler and world record  holder, Tobi Amusan is in a buoyant mood after emerging victorious at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

TheNiche had earlier reported that CAS ruled in favour of the 27-year-old in an appeal brought before it by World Athletics (WA) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Amusan was initially charged with committing an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) under Rule 2.4 WA ADR following three alleged Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period.

In their respective appeal to CAS, WA and WADA had sought the imposition of a two-year period of ineligibility.

However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s Panel held a hearing on 19 January 2024 and issued its decision Friday, June 28 dismissing both appeals

Reacting to the verdict, Amusan in post on her Instagram page wrote, “It’s all God.” 

Had the Ogun-State-born athlete lost at CAS, she would have missed out on the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France and suspended for two years.
