Super Eagles assistant coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has revealed the extent of the injury sustained by Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze, who may not be fit enough for the crucial 2022 World Cup second leg clash against Ghana in Abuja.
The medical team has continued to sweat over the fitness of the winger, who sat out of training for the second day running on Sunday, March 27.
Chukwueze was with other members of the team at the National Stadium in Abuja but didn’t take part in training, putting his availability for the encounter against the Black Stars in doubt on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old winger was on the end of some hard tackles by the Ghanaian players but continued playing until the 60th minute when he was substituted with Emmanuel Dennis.

Super Eagles assistant coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, who tutored him at the U17 national set up, provided an update on the La Liga winger’s injury at the end of Sunday’s training session.
He said, “Chukwueze has some little pains in the back of the muscle.”
The assistant coach went on to say the return leg is a must win for the Super Eagles, adding that the team will respect the Black Stars despite playing at home
“We need to win but we just have to be respectful and calm, let us play, and let us not be too noisy.” the former Barcelona winger added.
In case Chukwueze fails to recover in time for the encounter, the likes of captain Ahmed Musa and the premiership duo of Ademola Lookman and Emmanuel Dennis could get their first start of the playoff.
