Amotekun nabs kidnapper who wants to sell neighbour’s 4yr-old child for N200k

Men of Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps have apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Samuel Lucky Akpan; in the Alagbaka area of Ondo State capital, Akure.

Akpan, who was caught while trying to kidnap a 4-year-old boy, was paraded with other 17 suspects, who where arrested for offence ranging from kidnapping, robbery, cultism and internet fraud.

The suspects were paraded before newsmen in Akure, by the state commander of Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye yesterday, Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

While briefing newsmen, the commander who said the suspects were apprehended from different locations in the state, also said the suspects paraded included a child kidnapper.

“We also have someone who kidnapped a-four-year old boy. But with the help of the people around., we were able to rescue the boy, and apprehend him,” he said

The suspected kidnapper, Akpan, who knew the family of the boy he stole, while confessing to the crime, said he charmed the 4-year-old and was to sell him for N200,000 naira.

“The boy always come to play with me from his mother’s shop. I was already on my way to sell the boy for two hundred thousand naira, when I was arrested by some group of people.

”The man I wanted to sell the child to was already waiting for me as I placed certain kind of leave on the boy’s head.

“If somebody places that leave together with some incantations on anyone, the person will not be able to say anything again.

“I haven’t gone far from the shop of the boy’s mother when I was nabbed by men of the Amotekun Corps.” Akpan confessed.

Adeleye went further to say one of the cultists they arrested, Sola Ogunyemi, a 27-year-old, was picked up after he threatened the lives of some people he had fought with earlier with a gun.

The gun he was caught with was an English revolver pistol, which he claimed he got from the leader of his cult group, ‘Eiye’ Confraternity.

Among the 18 suspects, 9 who are middle aged men, were arrested for internet fraud related offenses, they are; Adegboro Opeyemi, Taopheek Yusuf, Micheal Olawole, Sadiku Kehinde, Sule Kabiru, Adetula Ayodeji, Olatokunbo Taiwo, Suleman and Ayuba Imoleayo.

The Amotekun boss while concluding, said the Corps in the last two months have apprehended several criminals, who have committed different types of offences but promised they will be brought to book soon.

“Over the last two months, we have been on the field and so many criminals have been apprehended.

“As you can see, their crimes range from kidnapping to armed robbery, house breaking, rape and even Internet fraud.

“We have a number of criminals that are here who are going through different stages of interrogation and awaiting prosecution,” he said.

Chief Adeleye, who have won accolades and awards for the job he is doing in the state, also told newsmen that suspects whose investigations had been concluded would be charged to court soon .
