Manchester United boss, Ruben Amorim, has expressed his desire to lift the English Premier League (EPL) title after he and his players were eliminated from the Carling Cup quarter final.

The Portuguese tactician was appointed during the November international break to replace sacked Dutch manager, Erik ten Hag.

However, on Thursday night, the 39-year-old saw his side exit the Carabao Cup, following a 4-3 defeat at Tottenham Hotspurs.

Spurs survived a Red Devils’ comeback and their own attempts at self-destruction to reach the cup’s semi-final.

Ange Postecoglou’s side were cruising at 3-0 up with less than half an hour to go until two calamitous errors from Spurs keeper Fraser Forster opened the door to an unlikely United revival.

Joshua Zirkzee and Amad Diallo capitalized on the keeper’s errors to make it 3-2 to visiting United, but Son Heung-min’s corner drifted straight into the net to give Spurs a 2 goal cushion again.

There was still time for Jonny Evans to head home a United third, four minutes into injury time with Forster again making an error, but the North London outfit managed to hold on for victory.

However, despite losing the highly intriguing encounter, Amorim said he is eyeing bigger silverware with the Manchester club.

Speaking after the game, he said: “We can’t think winning silverware will fix everything. We are improving as a team.

“Our goal is to win the Premier League. How long it will take I don’t know.”

Man United are currently in 13th place on the league table, six points off the fourth spot and 14 behind leaders Liverpool.
