There are concerns from pundits and fans of the Super Eagles after Assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi failed to show up at the team’s camp few days to the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

This comes amid speculations that the former Everton striker and his boss, Finidi are not on good terms.

Amokachi was one of the assistants announced by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) alongside Benjamin James, Olatunji Baruwa, Chima Onyeike, and Mehmet Ozturk.

But there are speculations that the Nigerian football governing body imposed the former Nigerian international on Finidi.

However, the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau recently debunked the rumours, saying the Super Eagles head coach picked Amokachi himself.

“I am very happy when we unveiled Finidi to Nigeria.

“The NFF Technical Director put all the names on the list and they chose the best they felt would work.

“All the names you saw as assistants to Finidi were chosen by him,” Gusau said.

Despite the rebuttal, Amokachi’s absence as Super Eagles  prepare for World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic has raised questions about his role as one of Finidi George’s assistant coaches.

According to DAILY POST, a reliable source confirmed Amokachi has rejected the contract offered by the Nigeria Football Federation.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana of South Africa will tackle the Super Eagles in a World Cup qualifying match billed for the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom on Friday.

Finidi’s men are also expected to travel to Cote d’Ivoire to face Benin Republic three days later.
