A United States of America tertiary institution, Prowess University Delaware in collaboration with Lead Times Africa Magazine and the Institute of Arts Management and Professional Studies,
(IAMPS) will on Saturday June 1 hold its 2024 edition of honorary degree awards to deserving nominated Nigerians who excelled in their various fields of endeavour.
The ceremony which will hold at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos will be attended by eminent personalities including the recipients of the prestigious Doctorate degree award.
Interacting with journalists about the event, Professor Prince Chidi Nwauba, who doubles as African Representatives of Prowess University, Delaware USA and Registrar/CEO of IAMPS, said the honorary degree award is in recognition of the awardees’ outstanding qualities which is anchored on integrity, transparency and accountability in quality service delivery in their various fields.
Also speaking on the award, the Advisory Board Chairman of Lead Times Africa Magazine, Prof. Buba S. Mshelia said the theme of this year’s edition of the award is , “Curbing the Excesses of Kidnapping and Armed banditry in Africa Through Good Governance in Leadership – Panacea to Nigeria’s Food Security Challenges and Sustainable Development”.
He disclosed that one of the recipients of the honorary Doctorate Degree award is Moruff Babatunde Ajiga, an astute and renowned Accountant .
According to him, the award to Ajiga is in recognition of his excellence as a professional in accounting, manager, socialite and erudite civil servant.
Describing further, Prof. Mshelia said that Moruff Babatunde Ajiga is an embodiment of creativity, excellence and dynamism in quality service delivery. “A personality with a tall vision and taste for exemplary leadership quality through sound education”
According to records, Moruff Babatunde Ajiga was born on July 12,1968. He started his early education at Christ Church Cathedral School and later enrolled at Methodist Boys High School where he obtained his General Certificate of Education and “A” Level Certificate.
The profesional accountant enrolled at the University of Lagos where he obtained a Bsc (Hon) in Banking & Finance. He deepened his knowledge in Banking when he earned a Masters Degree from Lagos State University.
On the social front, Ajiga joined the Okoo Faji Carnival Association and headed the group from Massey Zone in 1997. He is also a member of the famous Ikoyi Club; Lagos Lawn Tennis Club ; Eko Club and the Altimate Circle of Nigeria.
Moruff Ajiga is also a member of the Association of ‘Like Minds’, a newly formed social organization. In the course of its operations, the organization appointed Ajiga as its president.
He belongs to several professional bodies. As a Chartered Accountant, he is a Fellow of the International Federation of Accountants; Fellow, Institute of Public Accountants, Fellow, Certified Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an active member of the Nigeria Institute of Management.
Moruff as a recipient of the Doctorate degree award, is passionate about increasing his knowledge on a legion of subjects. He loves playing lawn tennis, and swimming and is married and the union is blessed with children.
Other recipients of the award include; Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Mrs Patricia Obilla; Bayelsa Deputy Governor’s Wife, Mrs Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo; the Deputy Speakers of Kwara and Adamawa States, Hon. Ojo Olayiwola and Mohammed Buba Jibawa respectively.
