Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has made it clear that he will not be backing any of his successors amid the political crisis rocking the state.

According to the former Minister of Transportation, unlike most political actors in the state, he will not offer his support to either Governor Siminalayi Fubara or Nyesom Wike.

He made his position known in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State on Friday, during a visit to the private residence of a leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Okorinama West.

During the visit, Amaechi also attributed the popularity of the incumbent governor, Fubara to the public outcry against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Wike.

While commenting on the political dynamics in the state, he suggested that some politicians who were his supporters in the past, started switching allegiances due to personal interests.

The former governor went on to encourage young people in the state to aspire for leadership positions in the state and take active roles in shaping Rivers State.

Speaking during the visit to the APC’ chieftain, Amaechi said, “I can’t stand and join either Sim or Wike. I will not join Sim, I will not join Wike.

“But don’t forget, they are not big without you people, I hope you know that.”

He added, “What Sim thinks is popularity today is because he is anti-Wike. That’s his popularity, not that Sim is the best man on earth. It’s because he is anti-Wike and because the state is tired of Wike.”
