Amaechi according to Eze remains the leader of the APC in Rivers State and there is no room for a new leader

By Kehinde Okeowo

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has reminded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Nyesom Wike and former Rivers senator, Magnus Abe, that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi is still a member of the party.

He made this known via a statement he made available to journalists, where he accused Wike and Abe of masterminding the crisis that almost consumed the state chapter of the APC.

Eze also noted that both men seem to be scheming to take over Rivers APC without recourse to those who held the party together when the going was tough.

He maintained that Amaechi remains the leader of the APC in Rivers State and that there is no room for new leadership of the party in the state.

Reading the statement Eze said: “Amaechi has not resigned his membership of the party to create room for new leadership structure.”

Prior to this development, Wike, who is yet to leave the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been tipped to take over the structure of the APC in Rivers State.

This is as 27 PDP members of the State House of Assembly who are loyal to him recently left the party to APC following the failed impeachment attempt that rocked the state.

Meanwhile, Abe recently returned to the APC, having contested the 2023 governorship poll on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
