Governor Alia is also expected to transmit another list to the state’s House of Assembly legislators “in a matter of days”.

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has sent the first batch of Commissioner-nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
This was disclosed on Friday in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Tersoo Kula.
On Wednesday, Governor Alia dissolved the state executive council, sacking all his commissioners and other appointees in the process.

He, however, retained former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher, as his Chief of Staff.
While announcing the latest development, Kula said, his principal’s action “marks a significant step in enhancement of the machinery of governance and ensuring effective service delivery across various sectors.”
The statement added that the “second batch of nominees is expected to be forwarded to the House of Assembly in a matter of days” in line with constitutional provisions.
The nominees in the first batch transmitted to the legislators include, Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue, Hon. Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, Hon. Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa, Hon. Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo, Dr. Yangien Timothy Ornguga, Hon. Denis Iyaighgba, Hon. James Dwem, and Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche.
