Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia, has said the Nigerian military is overstretched in his state.
He made this known on Monday while featuring on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, where he also insisted that his administration promptly responded to the series of attacks in the state.
TheNjche had earlier reported that some armed bandits attacked Yelewata in Guma Local Government Area of the state and reportedly killed over 200 people.
Reacting to the incident during the interview, Alia said despite the constraints experienced by the military, it is still supporting his administration in the fight against herders

He said: “There have been very prompt responses on the attacks we’ve been having. If we leave sentiments out of this equation, we’ll better appreciate this narrative.
“Granted that the military is stretched, I’m not supporting them, but we’ve had enormous support.
“You can appreciate this story if you are in the state and fully understand the different stages and levels we’ve had series of attacks, so there have been very prompt responses.”
Meanwhile, some assailants launched another deadly attack on Tse Yange, a Tiv-dominated community in Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Sunday.
The attackers reportedly killed the village head and abducted several residents during the raid.
